Co-Founder
Sandra Lindley RGN
Born
and educated in Mexborough South Yorkshire. Between 1973 and
1976 she trained as a registered Nurse at the Royal Infirmary
Sheffield and did work for twenty years as a qualified nurse
in the National Health Service until 1996 when she accepted
a post as Senior Sister in a private nursing home until recently
when she was promoted to Assistant Matron. Further training
has seen her become an NVQ Assessor in caring for the elderly.
She
became involved initially to help raise funds for a Vagus
Nerve Stimulator for Gareth Howard whom she has known since
birth. When it was decided that there was a real need to go
on to help others in a similar situation to Gareth, she was
only too pleased to become one of the founder members of the
charity when it was launched in May 1995.
When
a name for the charity was sought, she was responsible for
the name
F.A.B.L.E
(For A Better Life with Epilepsy)
it’s full name standing for everything the charity stood
for.
